“A Heart for People”
If you’re on this page right now, things are probably heavy. It’s hard to focus when an injury keeps you out of work; medical bills are hitting the counter, and you’re genuinely wondering how you’re going to pay rent next month. There are probably nights you lie awake, worried that some missing immigration document is going to separate your family. Or maybe the marriage is over, the silence in the house is loud, and you’re just really anxious about losing your kids in a custody battle.
Whatever is going on in your life to bring you here, please take a breath. You don’t have to deal with all this legal weight by yourself.
I’m Constance D. Coleman. I started the Coleman Law Group over 18 years ago. I didn’t do it to create a pile of case files. I did it because I wanted to protect real people from going through painful, exhausting moments in their lives. You are never a folder on a desk when you work with me. I see the raw anxiety behind your questions. I see the deep love driving your worries. Honestly, I see the sheer strength it took just for you to look for help today. That personal bond isn’t just part of the job to me. It’s the entire reason I do this work.
My path to becoming a lawyer wasn’t a standard, straight line. I went to school like everyone else, earning my B.A. from the University of California, Davis, and my J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. But degrees don’t make you an empathetic advocate—life does. Everything changed for me when I lost my brother in a motorcycle accident. That kind of sudden loss shatters your entire world.
Unless you’ve actually sat in that quiet room after a tragedy, you can’t explain the chaos a family faces. You are trying to process heavy grief while handling insurance phone calls, financial stress, and legal issues you don’t even understand. That exact moment changed how I looked at this job. When your life falls apart, you don’t need a legal robot. You need an attorney who can aggressively handle the system but actually sees the human being caught in the middle of it all.
“I turned the grief from losing my brother into action. Helping victims is how I honor his memory.”
I chose to channel that pain into my practice. For over 17 years, that personal tragedy has anchored every single case I accept. If you choose to work with me, you get all my legal experience and training. But what actually matters is that you get a lawyer who will fight for your family the exact same way I wish someone had stepped in and fought for mine.
If you’ve been hurt in any accident, I know your days are filled with physical pain and unexpected case stress. The injury itself is only half of the battle. It means staring at medical bills you didn’t deserve, panicking over missed work, and talking to insurance adjusters who treat your recovery like a line item on a corporate spreadsheet. I have spent 17 years learning exactly how these companies play their games. I step right between you and them to handle the fighting myself.
If you are dealing with immigration, you already know the absolute terror of waiting on a single piece of paper. Living with the constant stress of not knowing what is next is brutal, especially when your family’s life is at stake. I speak plainly. I will tell you precisely where your case stands, go over every option you have, and protect your right to stay together as if you were my own family.
If you are facing a family crisis—whether it’s a divorce that has completely destabilized your home or a tough custody dispute—please know that there is a way through the chaos. I’ve sat with many people who felt completely overwhelmed by the Florida family court system. It makes a massive difference when your attorney has the right legal skills but also treats you like a human being. We are going to work side by side to make sure your kids are safe, your property is protected, and you are stress-free again.
I am incredibly proud of my 10.0 Avvo Rating (the highest an attorney can get in the USA), and I am on the Florida Super Lawyers list. But those certificates mean nothing compared to the words my clients use when they look back on our time together. When someone says I never left them in the dark, that I actually cared, or that they felt like family instead of a paycheck—that’s the real win for me. I bring that mentality to work every single day because going through a brutal legal fight is terrifying enough without your lawyer ignoring you.
Before I ever went to law school, I spent years working in the marketing niche and later became a licensed realtor. I am incredibly thankful for that experience. It showed me exactly how things work in everyday life, far away from any legal bubbles or courtrooms. It means I have a highly practical understanding of the heavy financial pressure, housing messes, and business headaches that my clients face every single day.
When I’m not in my law office or fighting for a client in court, I try to spend my time lifting others. I mentor young professionals and speak to groups about balancing faith and purpose in the business world. I give my time to causes that keep me awake at night, especially local programs that help children, expand education, and support people experiencing homelessness here in our community.
I keep my feet on the ground here locally. Right now, I’m a Board Member for the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and I previously served on the board of the Barney Masterson American Inn of Court. Community service isn’t something I just try to fit into my weekends when I have a spare second. It sits right at the center of my whole practice.
“A Heart for People” isn’t just our tagline. It’s the promise I make to every person who trusts me with their future. “
If you are finally ready to speak with someone about what you are going through, I am right here to listen. The Coleman Law Group takes on clients throughout Florida and across the United States. Reach out today – it just might change everything.
