For Maurine A. Thomas, family law isn’t just a practice area she picked from a list. It is the entire reason she went to law school. Moving from New York through New Jersey and Texas before making Tampa Bay her home gave her a very practical look at life. After graduating from the University of Florida and earning her law degree from Stetson University College of Law, Maurine did something many attorneys avoid. She chose to focus completely on family law. It’s a hard field, but she chose it because families going through major life transitions, like divorce or a messy custody dispute, need real backing. Maurine’s career has never been confined to a comfortable office. She built her legal foundation by handling cases for Legal Aid clients voluntarily (who lack legal options). In her subsequent work as a Guardian ad Litem, she focused entirely on serving as a direct voice for children in the court system. Because she has worked across public service and private practice, she approaches the family court system with a comprehensive perspective, using those diverse angles to develop smarter strategies for her clients today.
